Brief Bio
I am a researcher and independent consultant specializing in reproductive health law and policy. I recently completed two years as Beck Chair at Temple University Beasley School of Law and spent 15 years with the global reproductive health NGO Ipas. I’m especially interested in reproductive health within the field of legal epidemiology—specifically how abortion laws affect health outcomes—and how the law addresses clinical safety. I have expertise in the regulation of abortion globally, self-managed abortion, and U.S. foreign policy. I am a fellow with the Center for Public Health Law Research at Temple University, where I am working on a project on implementation of abortion law for the World Health Organization. My other work includes projects with Ipas and the Guttmacher Institute, and I serve on the board of a Philadelphia-based abortion fund.
